Now, I can't remember that far back, but I was surprised to find out that I did know the song. On September 19, 1957, the #1 song was: "That'll Be the Day", by The Crickets (Who the heck are "The Crickets" anyway?)

What was the #1 song on the day of YOUR birth?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Congratulations to my fine brother Gary, he was the winner of my blog contest. He correctly identified the mystery picture I posted as a 'Quilting Bee'! Here is Gary, happy to be receiving his grand prize, a package of flat flower head quilting pins.

Ah, this is cracking me up to have all you young'uns posting your songs, because I remember them ALL---and it doesn't seem that long ago since they were popular songs....(except you Gary, I've never heard that Pat Boone song either ;-)
"Flashdance...What a Feeling" by Irene Cara. Never heard of her.
Irene Cara? You need to find "FAME" and watch it. She was a hottie!! Boy I am getting old....
"On My Own" by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald. I've never heard of it. How 'bout you Bonnie?
Katie dear - of course this song is familiar to me! I watched the music video on Youtube - Patti LaBelle sure looks young.
I actually know mine! "If You Leave Me Now" by Chicago. And I love the picture of Gary. I wonder what he'll use those fine flower-head pins for? Hmmm.
