Sky High Biscuits

Last summer when we were in Ohio - we went to this store called "Lehman's". Randy told us about it and said it was a fun place to go to, and that dad would enjoy it.  We got there at the end of the day - about 45 minutes before the place closed, so we really had to rush to see it. It is room after room full of everything that you could possibly want to furnish your home if you were Amish. Things you won't find at your local Ace Hardware store.

I bought this cool little wooden biscuit cutter there. It sits up on top of my oven, along with my Ulu knife that I bought it Alaska. Last week I got a great recipe, called: "Sky High Biscuits" (at a Macey's class, of course). The other morning I got up and made the biscuits & used my Lehman's biscuit cutter. This is a terrific recipe, so I am sharing it.


Sky High Biscuits
4 cups flour
8 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp salt
1-1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2-1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs, beaten
1-1/3 cup milk
Combine the first 5 ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture is coarse. Add beaten egg and milk. On a lightly floured surface knead briefly. Pat out to 3/4" to 1" thickness. Cut.
Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Open a jar of your favorite jam & enjoy!

I've Been Tagged

I was tagged by Heidi in O-hi-O. By the way, I love visiting OHIO!
Anyway, here are some things you may/may not know about moi:

1. In the past 9 years I have had 4 different callings in the LDS Church. All of them have been in the Primary organization. For the past 3 years I have held the best calling in the Church, Primary Chorister. (The program is over, now we can have FUN for the rest of the year!)

2. I love to be by myself. Maybe that comes from 17 years of daycare.

3. I wish I were brave enough to join a local quilting guild. I wish I had a friend to join with me.

4. Other than ‘The Office’ and ‘House’ I don’t watch much TV. (I usually watch those two shows on my laptop the next day). I really don't enjoy going to the movies. I think I must have RLS, I just can't stand to sit thru a movie in a theater (or at home), my legs get "antsy".

5. I love to travel. Every single day I think about different vacations I have been on, and I wish I were there again. This week it is the Oregon Coast at Newport.

6. If I didn’t have a husband, family & a mortgage, I would live the life of a gypsy; traveling the country and putting down roots for a year or so before moving on to a new place.

7. My favorite time of year is spring. I love the bright colors of the flowers and trees in bloom. My favorite colors to wear are fall colors. My favorite color is orange.

8. I know I was only supposed to put 7, but what the heck. Three years ago I made a goal to visit the great state of Hawaii during my 50th year. (Thus the URL for my blog). I never did make it to Hawaii, but I've been able to visit many other awesome places with my kids (even Terrell sometimes) and other family members instead, so it's ok.

This tagging stuff reminds me of the old fashioned snail mail chain letters. I dislike chain letters and can always be blamed as the one that "breaks the chain". So... I'm not going to tag anybody. I'm depending on all you others to keep it going.

I immediately thought of my dad when I saw the following cartoon in the newspaper this morning. 'Crafty' is my hero, and one of the finest people I know! Love ya dad!
