When we first arrived, we picked what we wanted to have in our tea pots. We picked a peach-apricot tea for the first tea pot, and pink hot chocolate for the second one. We were then escorted up to the tea room to our table

Then we were served a 3-tiered tray that had all kinds of finger foods. English scones, strawberry jam & clotted cream on the first tier. A variety of finger sandwiches on the middle tier and deserts on the bottom tier. I went to a class at Macey's a couple months ago, and I learned that you enjoy your food, from the top tier down.

This was so much fun. We both decided we DO NOT like tea, it just tastes too much like drinking a cup of hot weeds. Sorry, we did give it the 'ol college try sweetening it up with sugar, & lemon. No go. The pink hot chocolate was wonderful! Next time, our beverage selections will be the pink chocolate again, and lemonaide.
Here is the birthday cake they brought out to Emilie, (I had to pre-order this when I made the reservation). Em got to take the teacup and saucer home. We were so stuffed we couldn't even taste it, but we did once we got home. We actually disected it to see how it was made. (two cupcakes on top of each other, with the frosting piled on top). I thought this was such a cute idea.

We had such a good time, we both want to go back again! Happy Birthday Em!

Happy (belated) Birthday! I was looking at your pictures on flickr before I headed on over to your blog and I wondered if the pictures were at Gardner Village. They just seemed to have a Gardner Village quality to them. Looks like such a fun cute place to go! And I agree that pink chocolate is way better than tea! :)
A Happy Birthday Em! She looks so cute in the last one. That place is darling! And that food looks so delicious!
That sounds like so much fun! You are such a great mom to think of these creative things!
That looks like it was lots of fun. Hope she enjoyed her birthday!
Ok after my last story about my mission and lavender, you're going to think I had a lot of odd experiences on my mission. Well you would be right.
We visited one of our less active members and she told us she had just opened a little tea restaurant in downtown Puyallup -- out of our area but in our zone. She begged us to stop by.
This must have been Christmas time, because our ward mission leader gave us gift certificates to "Beehive Books and More" down in Puyallup. It's kind of like a Deseret Book knockoff -- and there was one of those in Seattle too. (Seattle is not as Mormon dense as, say, Salt Lake, but there are a fair amount there). Anyway, one preparation day we got permission to head down to Puyallup and use our gift certificates.
One thing I remember about the day is it was raining cats and dogs. I mean it rains a lot in Seattle sure, but it doesn't actually rain, it drizzles. On this particular day it was raining.
So anyway after we got our stuff at Beehive, we went to her little restaurant. Turns out it was a tea shop. Being uber-conservative missionaries we skipped the tea, even herbal tea, but we did have some light finger sandwiches and I don't remember what else, but I'm sure I made note of it in my journal.
She was very gracious and our afternoon tea was on the house, and I don't remember the rest so this will be the end of my lame, long comment!
I like (herbal)tea! Chamomile is my favorite; in Spain, you drink chamomile tea for just about every malady known to man. I bought some lavender tea at the farmers' market last fall but haven't had any to drink since I was pregnant. But now I can try it.
Also, Mom, if you're reading this, I want to go here for my birthday!
